The thrill of the hunt! I would have to check out several different stores to find the new issues. Often missed several in a row.

That would’ve been nice. We only had the one store. If they didn’t get it, neither did I.

I had 2 Drug Stores to choose from within bike riding distance. The problem was, my young self couldn't keep track well enough. Every Tuesday different titles appeared so a month would blow by and I wouldn't know I missed something until it was too late!

As I have mentioned, I somehow completely failed to figure out there was a particular day each week when new comics arrived. Didn’t even occur to me!

I was always extra happy when one of my favorite comic issues were 'double-sized'. JB, how far in advance did you have to work to pull that off?

I stumbled upon which day new issues arrived.I showed up at the spinner rack one day and there laying next to it sat a bundle of comics wrapped with a wire and piece of brown paper on top. I didn't put it together for a few weeks I'm sure, but eventually realized that bundle was there on the same day, Tuesday.

This issue came to me through the blessed mail, wrapped in a piece of paper the color and texture of a grocery bag from the supermarket.
I was SO happy to have been gifted a subscription to the Fantastic Four for my birthday and it kept me up to date on JB's issues for a fun-filled year. Sometimes the comics arrived with a little damage which, to my young and frugal mind, felt like fate or something because one thing was for sure: I just wasn't going to go buy the same comic book again.

Back on topic...Fantastic Four #250 was magnificent. Certainly doesn't seem like forty years since I bought it, but the story has remained vivid in my memory all that time. JB drawing all my favorite super-people in one issue, and Reed winning the day with brains over brawn. I could not have asked for more.
