Texas AG Ken Paxton has been indicted of securities fraud and denies the allegations of bribery and abuse of office, but the FBI is investigating him for those crimes. It sure seems like he is dancing for a pardon. I’m curious to see the list of people that will require a pardon for future, unspecified offences by this president.

It'll never happen, but because of Trump there should be a law that a President cannot pardon those who commit crimes for them, and neither can their VP if they suceed them.

At this point I am for a constitutional amendment relieving the President of the pardon power altogether - too much room for abuse. Also, let's be honest, it's a monarchial remnant kept by the founders who were SUPPOSEDLY a bunch of anti-monarchists.
If we must have a pardon mechanism at the federal level, then let it be one where, perhaps the pardon is initiated by the President and then it must be ratified by 2/3 majorities of BOTH chambers of Congress. If an individual is non-controversial and truly worthy of a pardon, then such a threshold should be no problem in most instances... and where it is controversial, it will and probably SHOULD fail in one or both chambers.

Marc, I like that idea, but I'd add.....
Pardons should be revokeable if its proven they were given in bad faith. Especially if its obvious and/or proven that the President issued it to those who committed crimes in their name, and definitely if the President in question knew about that. Revocation would reinstate any prison sentence and/or debts (such as fines) incurred. If it isn't already, Treason should be unpardonable.
*edited to add* SCOTUS has already rejected the Texas' AG's joke of a lawsuit.

I wouldn't classify it in such a way because The Onion did not invent the concept of satirical news stories. That said, I think that calling The Beaverton a Canadian counterpart to The Onion would be a fair description.

Surprised not to see any mention of Biden OFFICIALLY being elected as the 46th President.
January 20th cannot get here quick enough.

It looks like the Democrats have pulled of a not so minor political miracle - winning the White House, the House of Representatives AND now the US Senate by the skin of their teeth with two (one called, one on the verge) seats in of all places, formerly DEEP RED Georgia!
I would never ever had predicted Joe Biden would win the Presidency with the help of the State of Georgia, nor would I have EVER predicted that the same state of Georgia would deliver the US Senate into the hands of the Democrats!
I hate to say this, but it looks like 2021 seems bound and determined to shock and surprise as much as 2020!
