Wowzers! Those drawings are a like a teenage kids fantasy! I definitely prefer they way Mr Byrne draws women. Even the athletic, powerhouse women have some sense of dignity (not sure if that's the correct word I'm looking for. She- Hulk, for instance. She's sexy but looks like a real woman. Her proportions although exaggerated for comic book effect, would be akin to a fitness model in real life.
I guess I'm way out of touch with Adams' recent work.

A hard truth is that most artists turn into caricatures of themselves.* Even the best, over the years, become themselves only more so. Various ticks become exaggerated. This has pretty much always been the case, with good artists and bad. (And, yes, this includes me!)–––––––– * The only one I can think of who didn't was Joe Kubert.

I saw an Alex Ross pic of Reed and Sue today, his re- design of the costumes was awful, but he got Reed and Sue`s features perfect.

These days, I tend to think of Adams as more of a "cover artist/illustrator". And I don't mean that in a bad way at all. The detail in his current work is pretty mind-blowing.

John: Nathan Greno - "Do you think Adams is doing all of that lettering by hand?"
On the piece I have, yes, it is all done by hand.
I can't imagine how long it took him to do it.
--
How long did it take to get a commission? Just curious what the wait time is like.
Every time I've tried to go to his site, it says he's not taking commissions.

It was something I won on eBay from his rep. I lucked out when it sort of sailed through under the radar during the Christmas holiday and got it at what I would consider a bargain price.

I think Adams drew the Thing kind of wrong. He shouldn't have even a hint of a "chest."
(Everything to say about Adams' rendition of Sue's chest has already been said...)

The difference that i see between John and Art is that , Art uses as a "base stractual skeleton" crosses witch builds upon them.On the other side John uses curves witch uses to build the setup. As a result we see in Arts pieces a more flat scene and much more "posed" setup. In John curves gives a more fluid and "organic" setup.
----over the years reading comics i have concluded that Art is responsible for all that Image style that boomed in the early 90s....when i read all the annuals that he made for marvel i could see all the elements that other borrowed from him and made it their trademark.i know it sounds kind of weird but if you look them closely you will find many Mcfarlane (spiderman-new mutants) Jim Lee (new mutants asgard) and Rob Liefeld in his work way before they became famous ....

Sometimes it helps to give a sense of volume to Ben's chest by indicating pectoral muscles.* _____________ * Translation: I've done it myself!
