I'd bet most of my internal organs it isn't JB, but interesting isn't it that JB is still the man so many fans want back on a Marvel book, and I don't just mean us on this forum.

Still a lot of love for Mr Byrne out there!

Too bad.  JB would've been a terrific successor to Bagley on USM - perfect style for the job.

Grummett would be a great choice, too, but I'm guessing he's not a big enough "name" to get the gig.

John Romita Jr. doesn't fit either.  He drew ASM until # 508, long after the Quesada regime began.

Doesn't fit with the rumor, but not with anything Joey Q said there.

Not me.

Could you be a bit more specific? ;-)

It's crazy that even an impossible-seeming rumor like this can give me a small bit of hope...

Has JB ever given a set of circumstances that would persuade him to work for Marvel again?

If not, would it be impolitic/impolite to ask what those circumstances might be?

And this is the kind of thing that will keep coming back, until it eventually morphs into my being "removed" from ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN -- you know, like the Martian Manhunter story I was never even contacted about doing, but still kicks up some variant on "Why did Byrne leave/get fired?" from time to time.

Wallace hit the nail on the head--as did a couple of others: we so want to see JB working with the Marvel heroes again that we'll grasp at something like this, hoping against the reality that we know that it could be true. For me, John Byrne, George Perez, Frank Miller, and Walt Simonson were, indeed, the House of Ideas; they were the first line. Then, there were the Buscemas, the Romitas, Layton, Colan, and many others. I truly miss "my Marvel," and any glimmer of its possible return stirs the fifteen-year-old's heart in me.

Thomas, you took the words right out of my mouth.  I'll expect them back, post haste.

JB: Not me.

Never for a moment thought you were.  Not to begrudge you an income, but if you were on that book, I'd give up on Byrne comics entirely.

It probably would break the internet in half, though.
