I guess it was Werewolf By Night followed by The Defenders I recall most vividly. What would be a good place to start with Perlin Valiant?

Solar, Man of the Atom is probably the best place to start. He pencilled #1-4, 6. 7 & 9-13 under the name D David Perlin - they seemed to be trying to avoid prejudice by passing him off as a new artist.  Bob Layton inked the early issues, then Stan Drake took over.  Perlin then moved on to pencilling Bloodshot, but that series never appealed much to me.

Thank you, I'll check those out! I had a Gold Key Doctor Solar way back so I know the character sort of.

Bloodshot was very 80s action Terminator with a heart of gold, but damned if those early issues didn't look great. Those Solar comics are an excellent recommendation as well.

I was very fortunate to get a Moon Knight commission by him last year sometime, very nice and kind gentleman. May he rest in peace.

So sad to hear. Really fond memories of his Ghost Rider work. Probably what started me down the comics road. What middle school aged boy in the 70s  would not love a flaming skeleton riding a motorcycle as depicted by Mr. Perlin!
