I saw some Viking Prince covers by Kubert that are amazing, from just before he did the new Hawkman. Russ Heath did some Sea Devils covers in a similar style using grey wash with color; those all have a prestigious quality and are just great comics all around. The early issues of Namor had that high quality feel too with the extra level via grey scale!
There's something about those Charlton covers' colors that stands out from the crowd (also seen in The Art Of John Byrne book). I bought Many Ghosts Of Dr. Graves #54 almost entirely for that 'injury to eye' cover, and a FantaCo Fantastic Four Chronicles fanzine too. Sometimes there were great Byrne covers later at Marvel but with (to me) really awful flat coloring, as though the subtler colorists had started to leave in 1982-83 and we sometimes got garish coloring that made no use of the higher quality printing for covers (lots of great more subtly colored Byrne Marvel covers in the 'late '70s and early '80s though).

Brian Bolland had a few cover runs in the 90's/00's, specifically Wonder Woman, Batman: Gotham Knights and the Flash, that were both beautiful poster images but also captured the 'fun' aspect of comics and tried to be relevant to the interiors they represented.

The relevancy to the interior that you mention, Michael, is (I think) an essential element.
Adam Hughes produced a number of covers for Wonder Woman that were absolutely beautiful, but were pin-ups with rarely anything to tie them to the actual story inside, which is a shame. Most could have adorned any issue of Wonder Woman interchangeably.
I am a big fan of the covers that Infantino did for the Flash in the 60s. They were like mini-stories in themselves, little teasers to sell you on the story inside.

My favorite run of covers are Art Adams' Classic X-Men.

Many amazing cover runs are mentioned here, but what can ever compete
with 100 issues of world-changing Fantastic Four covers?
I mean, if we are talking about runs— isn’t that the Mt. Everest? So many
classics effortlessly created and uninterrupted.

Great topic for a thread.
The twelve-issue run of covers Frank Miller (w/Lynne Varley) did for the Lone Wolf and Cub English comics were nothing short of amazing. Frank was just coming off of the Dark Knight Returns. Great sense of design and action.

I remember being in awe of Brian Bolland's covers on Green Lantern circa 1980. I hadn't seen his name before that. Especially loved the one with a load of his fellow Lantern Corp creatures flying through space!
Bernie Wrightson did a lot of DC mystery type covers in the 20 cent era with really well chosen colors, an almost Marvel pallet of rich browns, dark greens and deep purples. I'm sure there must be collectors who prize them.

I’ll add Zeck covers on Captain America - looong run of these, so dynamic
and emotional. Also will second Ernie Chan, his cover to Godzilla #8 is my
all time favorite cover. Finally, the Byrne FF covers from #256 to 261 are
amazing.
