During the week, I shoot for 8, but will generally get around 7 hours a night, and I'll feel fine. I can function pretty well on 6. 5 or less will have a noticeable negative affect on me the next day.

Weekend nights, I'll often sleep around 9 hours and feel pretty refreshed upon waking. So, perhaps that's my true optimal. And I'll be 55 this year.

A bit less than usual lately, maybe five hours, with a few interruptions. Been kind of a stressful time lately.
