This is why I discourage speculation about where the stories are going. Some of you may recall a post that wondered if there might be a "Shi'ar Phoenix" in the offing, and in order to not show my hand too soon, I had to dance around the suggestion--even tho my Lilandra subplot was already written and drawn far beyond what you'd all seen.

Amazing page 15. I'm stunned.

This is neat, because (in theory) it would also impact your FF storylines down the line. Does the Trial of Reed Richards still happen in the Byrneverse? I guess we'll find out!

No, this is still about the X-Men. No reason they’d be aware of Reed’s trial, any more than would the average “man in the street”.

This is an important point that many fans and even some pros often miss: the characters don’t know everything we know.

I never have an inkling to try and figure out what's happening next - makes for a more exciting experience when a twist or unexpected event occurs.

On the subject of Wanda's powers, it seems that over the years writers forgot she also learned some actual magic from Agatha Harkness. I guess Steve Englehart (I'm pretty sure it was he who wrote her learning magic) wanted her to be more like an actual witch?

About the current page: It's fun to see how you render the different buildings and architecture of the Shi'ar.

No one was happier than me when people started “forgetting” that Wanda had learned “real” magic. Too much literalization!!!

On the subject of speculation - I sometimes felt stupid when I'd read "I think I know where this is going..." because I'm thinking "Really? I have no idea...". The hostage teammates as Sentinels? Didn't even cross my mind. Sometimes I wish I picked things up faster but I always really, really enjoy the reveal.

It could be argued that the new costume I gave Logan was made from unstable molecules, but, as noted, that would not necessarily make it fire proof.

As unstable molecules allow the costume/uniform being worn allow it to mimic (adapt to?) the powers of the wearer when activated (stretching with Reed, burning with Johnny), could Wolverine's costume "heal" as his regenerative powers kick into overdrive? When I was a younger reader, it explained in my mind how he kept coming out with fresh, non-mutilated costumes for each new adventure, despite man and outfit having been torn/shot/stabbed to shreds on a regular basis.

It only took 40 years to get to the true return of Phoenix.

I'm glad someone finally got around to it.

All the Eisners go to this series. There is nothing like this.

Between this and Walt Simonson's Ragnarok, my comic book dollar is well-
spent-- And Walt's getting every penny!
