Problem is, aside from it's markings, there's not much about a serval (cat) that would make for a good superhero or villain. They are small, and not very aggressive. In fact, they tend to run away from danger. (Sounds like a candidate for the Great Lakes Avengers!)

That new page has an almost 3D effect! I love it!

This latest page is, of course, one where I would expect the inker to get "interpretive". If I was inking it myself, I would keep a printout of the pencils to one side, as I inked in all the black areas, ignoring the "rain". When that was done, I'd add the rain with a combination of razor technique and white ink/paint. Might even do that last part on the scan, in Photoshop.

From an artistic point of view, I should note that my iPhone has become the ultimate swipe file. Needing stormy waters, I googled and voila!

This has become a go-to move, in recent years. Don't even have to print out the reference!

How do you achieve the rain effect in the pencils, JB?  Seems obvious yet...

And I personally prefer the pointy epaulets for Colossus and Nightcrawler.

Here, the rain is done with a cut edge of a Pink Pearl eraser.

WOW! That penciled page is incredible. I believe that's a location we've seen in the past...

As for the pointy epaulets: I feel they give Nightcrawler and Colossus more interesting silhouettes. That said, flattening them is like shortening the maple leaf stem on Guardian's uniform... ultimately not a big deal.

That scene may be the most Byrne-sy thing you've ever drawn - in a good way.  It's got everything: jagged rocks, futuristic architecture, silhouetted lighting, dramatic weather AND an angled panel border on a splash panel.  I feel like you should throw a character in named Stefon to comment on it.  F***ing dying to see this inked by Austin or a credible Austin substitute.  Actually, dying to see it inked, colored, lettered, and printed, regardless of the team.

Sorry - Bill Hader's hipster character from SNL News, the central joke of which has him reciting lists of activities at a series of "New York's HOTTEST clubs."  Always springs to mind whenever I ramble myself into a list of superlatives.

That "stormy weather" page looks great!

There have been costumes of Colossus’s that just stopped at the top of the shoulder. JRjr did one. Art Adams did one. I’m sure others have. I liked it. More of the metal is always good.
