I feel the same way Joe. Evely's got a really nice fair---for hair especially.  She uses a brush, and I think that translates into a very fluid style.

Of course, that got me wondering if Mr. Byrne prefers brush or pen for his inking.  Hopefully he'll check in with an answer (or perhaps he's answered that question a hundred times already and someone knows).

One note on style:  When I see an artist (even sometimes myself!) get something drawn cleanly and anatomically correct, I often find myself thinking I see JB's "style" in the result.  ...and then sometimes I think it's Neal Adam's style ...and then I just think to myself "Maybe it's not really a style at all, but just good, realistic, line-art."

I think Neal once said something along similar lines to "`style` is just everything I'm getting wrong"...I'm paraphrasing, but I like the notion or just trying to get things as accurately and legible as possible without flourishes or tricks.

Incidentally, I tried using a blue pencil for a sketch recently and it was too soft and waxy.  Made a mess of things.  I'm confused why so many folks like it.

Speaking of messes, here's one I did with a ballpoint pen and Sharpie marker and no clear plan of what I was drawing in my mind.  It's very "not great", but I liked the body-language enough to share it.  The fellow looks guilty-as-hell of *something*....but we will never know what.

Another funky experiment with body-language and a bit of GIMP-flourish.  This guy reminds me of a gunslinger with his half-slouch and shoulders back.  The dialog I imagine:

Steven I really like the natural flow of your drawings. Do you reference the outfits?

There was a Ditko-inked Micronauts page posted in another thread that reminded me of how much I used to love the Biotron toy as a child.
