I have never bought a book based on who wrote the introduction.
*******
I'm pretty sure I haven't either, especially for something with as high a price as this. There probably have been times, though, where I was debating whether or not to purchase something and the introduction may have been enough of a factor to push me over the edge into the purchasing category.

I've been turned on to plenty of new things with the reccomendation of soneone I respected.
As an example, Lee Bermejo, who's work I respect and enjoy a great deal, is a big fan and student of Norman Rockwell's work. I knew who Rockwell was but Lee's enthusiasm for him made me take a step back and reconsider my indifference as well as pick up some books on the master.

Oh, and just to throw it out there, I hadn't considered buying this Kirby collection but now that I see JB's so enthusiastic about it, my interest is piqued.
Perhaps it's juvenille or irrational but I think a part of the enjoyment of comics is feeling some kind of connection to the creators. There's still a little bit of kid in me that would take a kind of pride in knowing that I'm reading the same comic that John Byrne reads!
We're practically brothers. (LOL)

Every little bit to get people to see the genius that is Kirby is appreciated. Morrison is a good choice because people who appreciate his wild ideas would probably be likely to appreciate Kirby's as well. Plus, he wrote the last New Gods-related comics that were published -- the Mr. Miracle mini-series that was part of his Seven Soldiers story.
I love the Omnibus, and eagerly await the remaining three volumes.

Well, that Morrison Mr. Miracle mini was very very far away from the New Gods anyone was familiar with. But I guess that would be the thin connection.

The all-white Mr. Miracle on the cover of his third issue has been given his normal colors, which diminishes the impact of the cover considerably. Ah, well.
What was the reason M.M. was printed all white? I've always wondered...
~
I'm probably going to get these Kirby Omnibuses. I've been considering them for a while. As well as those Kamandi Archives.
I have the b&w reprint Fourth World TPBs DC did a few years back, but I'd love to have them in full color and handsome format.

What was the reason M.M. was printed all white? I've always wondered...•• The original cover is a curious mixture of "real" color and knock-outs. I would guess Mr. Miracle was left all-white so he would "pop". The starkness kinda plays into the title, too.

Okay, I'll have to seriously consider getting this then. I know I've really liked
the Kamandi archive books.

Holy crud - I forgot the b&w M.M. was from that Paranoid Pill cover.
The Pill is an excellent romp of an adventure,. I recently reread the issues to my son. They're still soooo good.
A few weeks ago I read Stephen King's Cell and Matheson's I Am Legend back to back. Both of these stories made me think of The Paranoid Pill.

I bought the Paranoid Pill issue off of the spinner rack. It was my first exposure to Scott Free.
That Omnibus could have a forward by Jimmy Hoffa... no one would buy it unless they're a Kirby fan. (They might read the forward in the bookstore or on Amazon.)
I'd prefer an introduction by Evanier, Infantino, or someone else that was there (But I can wait for Evanier's Kirby bio.)
I'd like to see Stan Lee write an intro to one of these volumes. Just for the hell of it.
