Good. Glad they didn't opt for changing it.

"Digital Inker"?

Hmmmm . . . you might be on to something here.  Take away the colors, and Quitely's pencils might look something like this:

Funny how the "S" in shield emblem in the word "Superman" that appears on the bottom of the page is portrayed differently than the "S" in the shield emblem on the character's chest on the two-page spread in the printed version.

They had folks re-draw Kirby's Superman face to keep the character on-model way back when, and $#!+ like this is commonplace today?

"All-Star" my arse.

Heh, sorry man, I'm not a big fan of Grant Morrison's work in general but I'm in love with his recent superhero stuff at DC (along with his last couple of small Vertigo projects)

"I liked it so far.

Sure, there weren't very many words on those pages, but a science vessel falling into the sun because Lex Luthor sabotaged it 8 minutes ago is a pretty cool way to start a Superman story."

Yeah, but it chaps my ass that a simple solar flare is enough to fatally overdose Superman -- which is seemingly the premise of the entire arc.  I hope there's more to Supes' OD than his little solar tickling.  The guy has swam THROUGH stars, after all ... and only gotten BETTER from doing so, not worse.  Hell, he even absorbed an entire (anti) sun before ... and that was under Morrison's pen!

Trademarked symbols getting redrawn are okay by me. While I don't necessarily want the "Kurt Schaffenberger must draw like C.C. Beck" days to return, Superman's S should look like Superman's S and if you're having trouble getting an acceptable one, a redraw is in order. Quitely's is so off model as to warrant it.

No worries, our use of language is generally quite similar outside of local colloquialisms.

What about 'brill on toast', John? Is that a DORT-speak expression 'cos it's
nothing no one I know's ever said!
