So when Vuk is "Tra'al faced" does that mean if you cover your head with a towel that he cannot see you?

Lots of subplots going - just merged the pages into a cbr file so I could read it like a comic book (zip file of the images, change extension to cbr).  Vuk (with latest bit today plus the page to start this issue), Scarlet Witch being comatose (seems linked to Jean somehow), Nightcrawler  teleportating somewhere, Colossus injuries still there, Wolverine being royally messed up, Pablo showing an ability to calm people down with a touch, the mom & girl coming to the mansion to find it destroyed, Jean about to leave like she was doing before Phoenix took over, and probably more that I'm not thinking of.  Phew.  Lots of balls in the air like a soap opera.  Good news is these should take awhile to get finished which means more issues for all of us (yay!).  Or Vuk destroys the earth for revenge and ends all plots.

A wonderful ending to an issue with a lot of emotion. Seeing Jean's story has
been with us since this all started, and I just love how it all comes together in
this issue.

With so much happening, I can hardly expect that we will jump back and witness Silver Surfer's farewell or Xavier's initial mourning for the Majestrix Shi'ar --but I can't say we won't either. It's one thing to feel like the storyteller/showman has an incredible number of plates spinning on sticks - and another to feel like every one of those plates is an another masterpiece unto itself.

That Stanley Lau pic of Jean is just full of happiness! :-) and is one of my favorites shots of Jean, excluding about a half dozen or so shots from John (like the splash page of Xmen 136 for example) or this panel from 129 (just for starters of course...)

That's something I didn't think about - did the Phoenix consume Lilandra, or was Lilandra placed in her own cocoon? This is probably "wait and see" territory.

Jason,  that's something I've been wondering too.   Is Lilandra's body in a cocoon on that Shi'ar asteroid?

Back to that last page...

Even though it's set in deep space, that scene at the bar has a real old west feel to it.

I think the Artgerm guy got a bit lucky with the Jean/Marvel Girl illustration. Looking on-line as his other work, this one in particular seems a cut above. In particular, Jean's face vs. a more cartoon-ish/Manga look in most of the others.

Not to take anything away from him or his talent, but I also wouldn't doubt if computer rendering isn't involved at some level---perhaps just to generate a reference. The lighting is just too good for drawing purely from imagination (or so I would think).

I think Mr. Byrne's work here on Jean and the Phoenix (facially) are noteworthy in their exceptional quality---reaching levels rarely seen in the medium. One would think drawing faces (as oppose to physiques) would be emphasized more in comics, and increasing more so with the improvements in print-quality.

Maybe he just knew he couldn't mess up such an important character (!) };->

All kidding aside, the result is most pleasing, even if John is still my favorite artist for Jean (and the X-men)

JB, have we reached the tipping point yet where you've drawn "true" Jean Grey more vs Phoenix or Half-Jean?  I've been trying to do the math
