Just politicians, Neil. Anyone else would be thrown in jail.

Has a reporter ever asked one of these politicians  “Excuse me sir, as a civilian I am legally obligated to oblige a subpoena. Is there a reason why you as a politician are allowed to ignore them?”

Can a politician ignore a subpoena if they are asked to testify at a criminal court? If Biden witnessed a robbery, can he ignore a subpoena?

Biden stepped in it ... AGAIN ... with his comments about refusing abide by any Senate subpoena.  It's not that we don't sympathize with his not wanting to aid the Republicans in their obfuscation of the real issue; TRUMP; It's just that this allows the Republicans a new narrative: Democrats doing the kinds of thing they always accuse the Republicans of doing.

Marc -- don't forget that the Biden's were engaged in shady business practices in the Ukraine.  I'm not going to say illegal, because they don't need to be illegal, just the appearance of any impropriety and the Biden's look like crooks and, as you said, the narrative shifts to become a giant democrat cover up of (Hunter hence proxy Joe) Biden wrong doing.

Just read that Biden has reversed himself and said he will comply with a subpoena.

If the Bidens were involved in "shady business practices" in Ukraine, then that is a matter for law enforcement - not the United States Senate adjudicating articles of impeachment against President Trump.

Any attempt to bring up Biden family misdeeds is a weak as hell attempt to
deflect from the very real crimes of Trump.

Of COURSE that's what the GOP wants to do, as it's a strategy that worked for them in the past, as with the endless (and entirely political) Benghazi hearings.

Dyed-in-the-wool Trump supporters are being given so many lifelines right now to admit they backed an obvious con-man, and yet they continue to hang on until the bitter end, deflecting this way and that way.

Seriously, if you can't work out that Trump is a bigger villain and confidence trickster than all other politicians combined, you shouldn't be allowed to leave the house or eat your meals without adult supervision.

Biden is old and his son is stuffing his pockets even before his poppa has assumed the presidency. I'm hoping Elizabeth Warren will make it all the way to the White House.
