I am not against buying art. My good friend Richard owns some big JB commissions, which as an educator are out of my range now. But like a great athlete - artists have a window in which to profit from their talents and I have no issue with them doing that. However, I will buy what I can afford and appreciate Byrne for his many contributions how I can.

I just reread JB's Next men (Book 3). Byrne was right - it's pretty obvious what happens to Danny. It still bums me out that its is a main character's exit but unlike a lot of other characters in comics - in Next Men - when you die, you pretty much stay dead.

I believe that comment belongs in your "About Next Men" thread?

You're right Nathan... I tend to lose track of the threads. Frankly, I'm lucky JB or others haven't given me the boot. No disrespect intended.

I don't want to be Mr. Fix-It any more -- even assuming the companies think they're broken.

As much as the frequent re-numbering of series gets on my nerves, it seems to be that things at Marvel are finally going "back to normal" after lord knows how many years. Or at least the comics I'm reading feel more like Marvel as Marvel is supposed to be.
Granted, I'm not reading that many titles. And the X-Men titles are still very, very "off," from the summaries I've read (though that's been true for eons), but maybe matters will be close to how they should be by the time the new UNCANNY X-MEN title starts in the fall?

You do not need to fix anything. Thank you for all the work you have contributed. I think your legacy is well documented in comic book lore.

I have to say I don't want you to be Mr. Fix-It anymore, either, JB. From what I have seen, it only seems to lead to a bunch of disrespectful fan-pros saying "I liked it better before," which then leads them to "fix the fix" ultimately adding layers of twisted, convoluted, and half-baked story logic. As such the characters these creators were trying to fix become almost incomprehensible to a reader who does not know every micro-fluctuation of continuity. It's a form of Byrne Bashing which has been particularly toxic to the genre, in my opinion, one that you shouldn't have to put up with anymore.
I have enjoyed the original work of yours I have read. I just wonder if some of that work could get greater visibility if it were accompanied by associating those characters with a high profile concept. Have you ever considered doing stories with heroes that are now in the public domain, like Nedor's Black terror for example? Just wondering.

Machine Man and Deathlok are two characters that can be played with incessantly, and throughout time. There's tech, the battle between humanity and computers, tech, and gizmos.
