ITEM: Hey Wallace... I didn't see anything wrong with your use of "some" twice. It was grammatically understandable...

ITEM: I'm minded of Denzel Washington's speech from an Oscars a few years back... to paraphrase, won't it be wonderful when we don't have to use identification any more because it won't matter?

It's the Sticks and Stones principle. As I have said before, we will not have achieved true equality until labels cannot contain or offend us.

As acronyms go,LGBTQIAPK is certainly unwieldly and hard
to remember, which kind of negates the point of an
acronym!

All the acronym says is our umbrella is big and if you want support, come and stand under it.

This is not a good way to win support from outside the various communities. Many civilians are more likely to greet an ever-lengthening line of letters with eye-rolls.

Like I said, it needs something simple, much like how male homosexuals adopt "Gay", and made it stick.

I can't remember whether it's LGBT or GLBT -- I don't know why the Lesbians go before gays... ladies before gents? I don't know why gay isn't a good enough label for lesbians -- I'm sure there's a reason.

Adding stripes to the flag, adding letters to the acronym...

I'm just glad I was able to get married.

Exactly, Bill.

I could imagine myself, whilst rushing to type out a tweet, inadvertently excluding one of those letters. Would it offend an excluded group despite it being unintentional?

Of course, I'd endeavour to use the terminology/acronym that was requested, but LGBT is so much quicker/easier to type out - and less likely to be subject to a typo. Thinking about it carefully, I can correctly type out LGBTQIAPK, but if rushing on Facebook or Twitter, do I risk excluding it?

One might argue that I should be careful and type slowly, but acronyms should be easy to type. BBC is one such acronym. But if they changed their name to the United Kingdom Of Great Britain And Northern Ireland Broadcasting Corporation, well...

There was a time when the homosexuals of the world seemed to be embracing "Queer" as the term of choice. I thought this was brilliant, mostly because it's a word with a long history of being offensive being turned around and worn with pride. "We're here, we're Queer!"

It could also be a handy word to replace this jawbreaker acronym. Queer means "different", which covers all the groupings on the list.

"Get used to it!"

***************************

I gotta say, I've always loved the word "Queer". A LONG time ago, I wrote a gay-parody of Suess' GRINCH that began

"E'vry Queer down in Queerville liked Pride Day a lot!
But Apollo, whose loft overlooked it... DID NOT!"

Ladies before gents...but they wanted equality! Those
militant feminists certainly don't want a transgender
male using THEIR toilets...but they wanted inclusivity!
So confusing!

TERF...Trans-Exclsusionary,Radical Feminist, I am not
making this up.
