I'm on my way home now and it will be a couple of days before I get to post it, but I've watched parts of it and it's pretty clear. I kept my phone low (they mentioned several places no videotaping) but you can see John and walt and the audio is pretty clear.
Does anyone have a suggestion besides just dumping it on my YouTube site?
Also I am assuming John is okay with me posting this?

Walt Simonson was a real superhero over the weekend, as usual. Here's a great photo from his signing at the Marvel booth:
The deal here, for those who don't know what's going on here, is that while Gerry Conway, Louise Simonson, Chris Claremont, and I were signing at the Marvel booth on Sunday, this fan came by. I was doing rapid head sketches for folks, but the Marvel table surface was pretty high, and there was no way he would have been able to see me drawing. I went around the booth and sat on the floor in front of him so he can see the drawing develop. Chris grabbed this shot, and the sketch even came out pretty well. :-)

It was posted on the screen during the MAD panel before. I never saw it during the Kirby panel, so it could have been their thing not NYCC. Also several staffers saw me videoing and didn't say anything.
But I do post it I will do it over John's objection.

What's wrong with you? You did something specifically prohibited, but you figure it's ok because no one stopped you?

At DC, they had a Green Lantern whose name was Sinestro and nobody thought it was a bad idea. John Byrne

I hope that comment was transcribed correctly because it's hilarious!

Reading the articles linked here.... did Walt Simonson really say Vince Colletta is his favorite Kirby inker on THOR?? I'm a bit shocked.
Would love to see a full transcript (properly done.). Bummed that I missed this panel as I attended NYCC only Saturday and Sunday.

Same here, Charles. Would've loved to see the video too but I had no idea they asked people not to film the discussion. Wondering if there was a particular reason for that as JB didn't seem to mind it and I've seen lots of videos of other panels (including a short one of the JB and Walt panel posted elsewhere). A video would certainly beat bad transcriptions.

Most venues have some sort of boilerplate prohibition against recording on their premises. You'll even usually find one in the small print for performers who overtly encourage fan recordings. It's likely easier for the Con to leave signs up for the panels where the participants do care than try to enforce on a case by case basis. The Con organizers may possibly want to maintain a degree of exclusivity over their events, but without a copyright claim I don't think there's a credible legal prohibition from sharing a fan video on social media; it's really a matter of courtesy.
Scott is likely correct the staff would have asked him to stop recording if it was a concern for that particular panel. This is exactly the kind of situation that Napoleon Complexes are built on.
