Oops...

I broke the rules earlier.  Allow me to make amends.

I wish I could have met Ayrton Senna.

A phenomenal World Driving Champion and remarkable person.

Gotta go with Leonard Nimoy.

I managed to see Bill Shatner in person and get an autograph, three years ago, and was recently given a signed copy of I AM NOT SPOCK, but just I never got the chance to see Nimoy in person.

Along with Shatner, I'm also really grateful to have met and received an autograph from Stan Lee, a few years back. A real highlight of my nerd-life.

...I now also find myself regretting not getting in that really long line for Adam West and Burt Ward at last year's Motor City Comic-Con.

I decided about 7 or 8 years ago that I was going to make an effort to meet some of my long-time heroes, as none of them are getting any younger (nor I).

Like you and others, missing Nimoy is my main regret...and his passing made me even more determined to finally meet Shatner. And I did put up with the long lines to get a photo with West and Ward a few years ago. And got to meet Stan Lee at Awesome Con earlier this month.

Herb Trimpe passed not too long after I saw him at Baltimore Comic Con back in 2013. Sal Buscema was also a guest, and I got things signed by both. As a Hulk fan for nearly 90% of my life, that was gratifying. Getting to meet Lou Ferrigno (at a different con) made it a trifecta.

Didn't make it to Vegas or New York Trek cons last year to meet JB. Here's hoping there are somehow future chances for that...

Gil Kane & Jack Kirby immediately come to mind, from
comics, though there are many more, including Aparo,
Cockrum, etc.

Weird how those two guys come to mind before anybody
else from any other genre.

It might be an odd choice, but Archie Goodwin.

Why odd? Archie was a great guy, and produced some terrific stories (both on and off the page!).

Leonard Nimoy is the first one that pops into my head of someone who I could have met in the last few years.

I do wish I'd have been able to see some of the great comic artists back in the 1980's before they passed. Jack Kirby, Curt Swan and Jim Aparo would be off the top of my head.

I'd also have loved to have met or at least seen in concert Elvis Presley, but I was only 11 when he died.

An excuse to tell a story I have repeated many times!

When I was attending MidOhioCon I became "adjacent table buddies" with Yvonne Craig, who was a semi-regular. When I decided I would be attending no more cons, Yvonne approached me at the end-of-con weap party, saying "I hear you're not coming back anymore!" I said no, and she added "We'll miss you!" and gave me a big kiss on the cheek.

And I thought I've just been kissed by a woman who kissed Elvis!

I remember when Mark Gruenwald passed away remembering I'd seen him at a Chicago Con the year previous (maybe two years previous) and didn't say anything to him, mostly because I didn't have anything for him to sign. He wasn't even busy, just sitting at the Marvel booth.

Since then I've made a point to at least go up and thank people who have created things I've enjoyed, even if I don't have anything to get signed. (I don't really get autographs on comics anymore, unless it's a hardback.) Still, it's nice to take a second and say thanks and shake someone's hand.

Most pros are delighted to talk to polite fans. Having something to be signed is not an issue.

Of the pros I've met. At most of my encounters I haven't had anything signed. Most of the time I just wanted to shake hands and thank them for the hours upon hours of pleasure I got from their work.

John Byrne, Stan Lee, Mark Texiera and Brian Pulido are the only signatures I've gotten.
