I doubt that's the main reason (sounds like a liberal fantasy of a world where Trump voters are "ashamed") but if it were then it's reason enough to stop with the polls nonsense if they can't figure that out.

They are not only a scam but actually detrimental for Dems in this case (last election too) making them feel the election is over and they're safe when it's not and they aren't.

I'm far from a liberal Rodrigo ....

I don't think the silent Trump voters are ashamed I think they like many on both
sides are tired of talking justifying arguing over it. So they just vote don't
answer poll calls don't answer questions don't post all over social media about
it voting is a personal thing thats that.

The Senate results are beyond depressing.

Collins, Graham, and McConnell should have lost last night. The
system is broken.

Biden's Path to 270 electoral votes (which wins the election):

Projected
Win     Elec Votes
CALI 55
OREG 7
WASH 12
COLO 9
NEW M 5
ILL 20
NY   29
NH    4
VERM 3
CONN 7
RI    4
MASS 11
NJ   14
DEL   3
MD   10
DC    3
VA   13
HAW   4
MINN 10
NEBR 1
MAINE 3(4?)
WISC 10

That's 237 (or 238) total.

Currently Ahead
MICH    16
ARIZ    11
NEVADA   6

Those add up to 270.

There are other paths, but this looks like the most likely for Biden.   If any of these projections change in Trump's favor, Trump could easily win if he holds the states where he currently leads. Trump will apparently demand a recount in Wisconsin, which was super close. It's going to be razor-thin either way.

One striking aspect of the election is that Trump has currently 4.75 million more votes than in 2016.

Given that the coronavirus management could have gone better, shall we say, this is really rather surprising.

Looks like increased voter turnout worked both ways. As it should, if we look at it objectively.

Biden has 253 projected electoral votes according to most all media, so if he just continues to lead Nevada and their 6 votes, and Arizona with their 11, he is at 270 without even needing Pennsylvania. Whew!

The last popular vote total I saw had Biden with over 3 million more votes than Trump, passing the amount Hillary had. Again... Whew!

That looks like two milestones passed, the downside being the Senate looks to stay at the exact same 52/48 split in favor of Republicans.

The real damage is how many people no longer feel 'at home' in their country, and I don't mean the confederate flag fanciers or collectors of military style assault weapons. What are people saying to so many groups in backing Trump at this time, again after four years of objectively crappy performance in the job, not at all bringing people together which used to be a function of the position? I was really hopeful that there was a genuine conservative Republican base for getting free of him. Democracy requires two healthy parties bare minimum and there is a lot that is very unhealthy about one, and the worst of the other in comparison is closer to nitpicking (pushing bike lanes, mandating masks and other safety measures, increased social spending and housing maybe some who aren't going to prove worth it).

Well, the healing and the uniting thing just seems further away than ever. :^(

It's up to Nevada now.

It's sad to me how close this is, but not unexpected, unfortunately.

Apparently what Trump lost in suburban educated white voters he gained in uneducated rural white voters.  Many who apparently didn’t vote at all in 2016.

So if you’re wondering who looked at his record of 4 years...and the shitstorm of chaos and division he generated in his term as POTUS and thought “Yeah, I want more of that!” ..there’s your answer.
