I would like to see any changes to the status quo be real changes to the status quo rather than events that will be (or, because the characters have been written into some impossible situation must be) undone. With the exception of Phoenix (because dying and coming back is what Phoenixes do), I'd like any and all character deaths to be rare, well thought out, and permanent.
As for writing for trades, I would like to see a return to real story arcs, in which each issue is a story within a story with its own plot, conflict, and resolution. That should be the extent of writing for trades. I don't want to see any more issues entirely devoted to setting up for a denoument that's not going to happen for another 2-10 issues.

I often wonder how they'd approach Superman VS The Amazing Spider-Man if it were being published today for the first time. Would Superman and Spider-Man not even meet until issue 3 of a six-issue series?

Why kill characters off when you can just as easily send them off into space to marry a space tree possessing their dead boyfriend's corpse ?

Unless you kill off most of Marvel's current incarnations, I don't see any way to fix the characters unless they're all rebooted.
If Marvel had had some guts, they'd have killed the Hulk and left his adventures to the MARVEL ADVENTURES line.
JB, what would it take to get you involved in that line? Apparently you can actually find versions of the characters pretty much as they once were, and not a single Event among the books yet.

The mad bomb saga seemed like it lasted a few issues but maybe it was only
2 or 3 after all. Memory is weak.
As always, the issue is a shortage of good stories, not the length of the
stories.

I would like to see Marvel make some really big changes but I believe that the best thing that Marvel could do is get rid of Joey Q. That guy has done a lot of damage. I'd like to see a talented individual like JB take over the EIC position!
But sadly, as long as readers are willing to buy their books, they'll continue down the same road.

That guy has done a lot of damage.
Uh, hasn't he lead the company to dominating the sales charts? And signed most of the interesting and young talent available?
Any 'damage' is soley subjective. Sure, the Marvel universe has become dark and depressing, but Marvel is trying to publish some quality, interesting books.
DC, on the other hand....
