I'm tired of the grim and gritty Batman. If Morrison and Dini will do something different (more similar to the classic stories by O'Neil/Adams, my favorite portrayal of Batman), I'll be the first to be happy. I love this character, but often I think that nobody is able to write him!
After Hush I haven't read very good Batman stories (except for one stand alone issue between the War Games crossover and the -urgh- return of Jason Todd), and it's a pity. He is BATMAN, one of the best characters around! Don't ruin him!

Nobody should skip Arkham Asylum completely. The story is, I think, a bit early-work (who do I think I am?), but the artwork is spectacular early-McKean-still-doing-Sienkiewicz.

Morrison's new "Batman" stories are fun, so far. I really didn't like his "New X-Men" stuff, but he seems to respect DC's iconic heroes more (Note: This does not include Doom Patrol). His "JLA" run seemed to be loved by most all readers that read it.

I finished reading his latest Batman issue last night, and I absolutely loved it. MUCH better than his first issue (which was mostly good, other than a couple problems I had at the start of it). I'm looking forward to his run going on a while if it stays at this level.

Yeah, I definitely got a real mid-'70s vibe off that issue. Maybe it was all the
Man-Bats flying around, maybe it was the appearance of Talia -- either way,
I've enjoyed the last two issues of BATMAN as I never have any other Grant
Morrison title ever.

Unfortunately, there are lazy people in every generation who seem to think that the latest, coolest person to have said or done something, was also the first. I've heard people talk about how dynamic artists like Liefeld and McFarlane are without knowing about folks like Will Eisner, Jack Kirby, or Jim Steranko.

Little further on Newsarama Meltzer has a Q&A with this line regarding the ID
Crisis quote from Arthur Miller (An era can be said to end when its basic
illusions are exhausted.):
"Meltzer: I love this question. And to first address the premise, I still think a
few people have misinterpreted the quote. That quote was always meant to
cut both ways: that the Silver Age could be examined with a current eye, but
also, perhaps more important, that the current age needed to be reexamined
with a Silver Age eye (hence the reestablishment of secret IDs, the refocus
and re-embracing of the so-called “silly” characters, the loss of Batman’s
invulnerability and overall dickish-ness, etc). "

IDENTITY CRISIS was about as far from the Silver Age as you could get in a superhero comic, regardless of what Meltzer meant by the quote.
