One thing occurs to me in reading this story:

Does the Phoenix operate better or differently when paired with a mortal host?

It seems as though the difference is like a hurricane (the Phoenix on its own) being squeezed down into a tornado-spawning storm that never ends but just grinds its way across the landscape. The destruction is more specific and more localized but awful all the same.

And Marvel has taken each of those tornadoes and made new and existing characters have powers of the Phoenix.

Nice title font!

I am on the edge of my seat --- no idea how this is going to play out. Great story telling and gorgeous art. It's the complete package.

Marvel seems to have become the very embodiment of the old Hollywood saw: nobody wants to be first, but everybody wants to be second.

It's interesting that Scott's "emotion" is really an absence of one. Appropriate for someone who tries to suppress or bottle up his emotions as much as possible. Doesn't mean he doesn't have them (and we do see them from time to time -his relief at Jean's first resurrection as Phoenix in 101, his explanation for not "mourning" her in 129, etc.) but he often does try not to acknowledge them.

A tremendous, impactful Splash/Title Page, suitably conveying the myriad emotions described! Seeing the key dramatis personae arranged like this however, has focused my mind on something that I should have noticed 'last issue' but had not remotely considered, so eagerly was I following the daily narrative...

Where is Storm?

JB, that background is a labour of love! Thanks for putting so much into these pages.

This is very much an example of what I call a “zen background”. I start at a point—lower left in this case—and then my mind “goes away”. I “come back” half an hour or so later, and somebody has filled the page.
