I love, love, LOVE this run, and I curse the heavens for the fact that it was so short. JB and the Hulk seem very much like a perfect match.
This really was a "back to basics" approach (New Mexico! Rick Jones! Betty! General Ross!), and I would have loved to see the retro-Kirby Hulk that JB was planning to (re)introduce.
And, right from the start, JB started getting into the complexities of the Banner/Hulk relationship (by taking awesome advantage of the idea that Banner exerts a moderating influence over the Hulk). If he'd been allowed to proceed, I'm sure it would have been much better (and truer to the character) than the psychobabble that Peter David buried the character with.
Also, the Hulk is really scary in this run, too. Even before Banner's persona is sucked out of him, he kills a deer (whereas before, he would have called it "Bambi")!
