Now the country can unite against political violence.
I wish. I give it 2 days before this is heavily politicized. Also, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought this would happen sooner or later, but I've been afraid to say anything.

Two days? A sitting Republican senator has already come out and said Biden is responsible for the attempt. If/when FOX runs with that narrative, Biden's life will be in danger from some MAGA idiot thinking he's in the right.
My biggest fear right now is that this will escalate. Hope I'm wrong.

Earlier this month:"NEW YORK — The leader of a conservative think tank orchestrating plans for a massive overhaul of the federal government in the event of a Republican presidential win said that the country is in the midst of a “second American Revolution” that will be bloodless “if the left allows it to be.”
This is how they will blame left. As for not being staged because of a innocent bystander being killed, this is the same group of people who wanted Jan 6th to happen, who have made their floorplan for undermining our government out in the public (I dread to think what they want behind closed doors) so what's one death to them.
Now we wait.

JD Vance has already said that Biden's "rhetoric" is indirectly responsible for this. Anyone want to make bets on how long it will be until Trump comes out and says Biden is directly responsible?

Exactly. Let’s not “false flag” this. We’re better than that. It happened. And we all know that Trump, his loyalists and MAGA will make hay of it from now until November. Quite possibly the worst outcome: Trump gets to play both victim and martyr while the base uses it as an excuse for their own violence. One need only look to Jan 6, 2020 for evidence of this. Plays right into the campaign’s hands.

Innocent Bystander = Collateral Damage to Trump.
If it was genuine, then 4 more months of every crackpot taking aim at him.
Maybe someone wants to collect on that $3 million bounty Iran put on him.

Terrible on every level possible.
Someone took a potshot @ him - not good
Someone else may have died - not good
Already calls from his supporters to make a statue of him surrounded by the
secret service with his fist pumped in the air - shows exactly the image we
will now see for the rest of this campaign
The hardening of his supporters towards a ‘revolution’ will now know no
limits - while he was being moved to his car, his supporters were being
rallied by him & shouting whatever slogan he had shouted during the fist
pump, while also turning to cameras & flipping the bird.
The effects of this will be horrible

So somewhere Gabby Giffords and Steve Scalise are saying, "Hold my beer" ...By the way, I hope when all the hoopla dies down we recognize that by continuing to grandstand the way he did he potentially continued to place others around him at risk by remaining a visual target. I am sure the secret service told him that, but again, theatrics before anything else ...
