Amused to find a couple of rather intense discussions on whether the Scarlet Witch could lift Thor’s hammer. Much back and forth on whether she would be “worthy”.As I have seen so many times before, tho, this debate overlooks an important element of the inscription on the uru metal: Whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy….” Of course, it’s all rendered moot by the giant (and poorly considered) retcon that made Don Blake a construct created by Odin and the inscription basically a lie.

It's fun to imagine an alternative series featuring THORR that kept Don Blake as the real person.

How in the world has one of these newer writers NOT done something built off that spelling yet?

Hickman did, in his Avengers run up to Secret Wars.

I don't know, sometimes archeology can be fun? I don't even know if it was a reference to that particular panel, but a THORR did show up during his run (and the hammer stuck around for a bit longer).

Could almost be a variant of Godwin's Law.
As online discussion of Thor continues, the probability of someone contending their favourite character should be able to lift Mjolnir approaches one.

It's not "If he be worthy" anymore. Jason Aaron changed it to "If they be worthy" after making Jane Foster the new Thor. And when she was Thor, it said "If she be worthy." I'm not kidding.

JB, do you know why the retcon to make Don Blake a construct was made?

I know it was male, but we had a frog Thor, so i have no problem with a female being able to lift Mjolnir! I think the use of the word "they" is a good thing as we're no longer in the 60's.

It seems strange to keep the "worthy" gimmick after it turns out that Don Blake really WAS Thor! I mean, one or the other please.
