It was the first time i saw something on tv that left me
thinking "I'm watching people die live on tv" but with a
sense of disbelief, the second time was 15 years later.

Bill, as I said above I was 7 years old when I saw that and it has always stuck with me, and, like you, 15 years later at 22 it happened again. 

A bigger tragedy is that it seems commonplace now, and I think it can be desensitizing to people whereas it wasn't to us.

The first time I was truly aware of “history happening” was the orbital flight of John Glenn.
