On my annual trips down the road to Orlando, one of my favorite games to play in the Disney Springs shops is “Find a Byrne.” This time, it was an easy win—the first thing that greeted me upon entering the Marvel store was unmistakably his work. There may have been others, but my ability to spot John's work isn’t nearly as sharp as some of the experts on this board.

THAT image. Possibly my least favorite of all the drawings I have done of our boy Logan, and THAT’S the one they keep using?

sigh

It is fascinating how artists see their own work compared to others. I like that image, but as someone who draws, too, I have been amazed at what art of mine resonates with other people, and what art doesn't.

In a store recently, I saw the same image being used for a paint by numbers kit. It's very popular.

Ok, I'm curious, which drawing would you prefer they use?

Since I was a kid, I wanted this one on all the t-shirts and lunch boxes. I love the gesture in this drawing and the remains of a non-existent sleeve help tell a story. Maybe it came off his unfortunate enemy. 'Course, I knew it was too violent for licensing-- but that's what would've made it so cool!

I randomly came across it on an ice cream truck during a business visit to Northern Ireland in 2016:

I can understand the frustration. This is probably the first spash image that helped put Wolverine on the map in the first place, but there are SO many better ones that have been made since. And I completely agree about Wolverine #17 being the image to choose, instead. Not the least reason being that Wolverine's actually facing the camera! I've gone on record in saying that it's my favorite Wolverine image of all time.

I can just see them in their meeting now...'What image does Byrne like the least? Ok, we'll use that!'

The cover to "Wolverine' #17 has definitely gained popularity with fans as the years roll by. It fetches a decent price precisely because of the cover art.
