Do you have any recollection you could share on the Doctor Death Splash page?  From what I understand it was for an unpublshed story at Charlton.  There does not appear to be much more easily found info on it.

That splash is all there ever was. Not intended for Charlton, or anybody else.

My tiny sojourn into gothic horror.   Title is DOCTOR DE ATH. Ain’t I brilliant?

Ohhh, I don’t think I ever registered the lettering gap as “D.E. Ath”

Also with this being all there is, it’s really interesting that all the writing was done at the art stage, wow!

Ahh, thanks!

I find it odd that I haven’t wondered what the good doctor even looked like until now.  And, with all the leaked sketchbook stuff over the years, I’m not connecting anything.  I will remove “Charlton” from my CAF description.

The inspiration for that name, btw, was an English proper name which is pronounced “deeth” but is spelled “death”.

In my teens, when I first learned of the name, I decided I would give it to my future son as his second name. I figured he’d hate it until he was sixteen when he’d realize “Death is my middle name.”

Just as well I didn’t have kids, huh?

That reminds me of a story that my late step-father used to tell (and who knows, he may have been messing with me), that when he was in college, he and a friend were checking into a hotel and his friend put his name in the register as
David Shithead...when the clerk pronounced it as one would expect, he was told, "No, it's pronounced 'Shy-theed', you fool!".

Okay, pronounce this English surname:

FEATHERINGSTONEHAUGH

(I have mentioned this before, so those of you who already know, keep silence!)

I have encountered a patient with this as a first name. Little kid, 7 or 8 years
old. They pronounced it “shuh-theed.”

Reminds me of when I was in college - I saw someone pledging for a fraternity, and he wore a sport jersey that said "Asswipe" on the back, which was his Fraternity name. I had heard that someone had complained about it, so they added an accent on the I, and now it was pronounced "Asweepay".

Reminds me of my buddy calling a football player “Meeth-Ed” in high school.
