Okay—I must ask what the Endeavor is doing in this piece…?
********
The X-MEN /MICRONAUTS miniseries by Chris/Mantlo/Guice from ‘83(?).

And I LOVE the inclusion!!!!!!

The Endeavor...was not in the X-Men/Micronauts limited series. The Bio-Ship was their transport at that time. Nightcrawler did teleport with it once in an issue of Micronauts though.

John Byrne

I could live without Lockheed, but the rest is super cool.

Xcellent

Hey thanks John, I’m so glad you’re digging it! It was a blast taking a crack at all these fantastic characters, most of them for the first time ever for me!

BTW, I emailed you back in the summer to see if you might have liked copies of the Star Trek/ Doctor Who piece that Paramount & BBC commissioned for their San Diego Comic Con Panel that I posted over on the Trek thread here, don’t know if you ever received it or not, but just know if you’d like them, I’d be more than happy to send em your way….Terry actually surprised me by expressing an interest in it and I was stoked to send him copies! It’s the best TOS Shatner I’ve ever done!

Is that the Endeavor from Micronauts in front of Ka-Zar and Zabu?

It is! Glad ya enjoyed its inclusion…. I love drawing the thing!

Michael Penn
A lot of really good stuff here. Very much like Kitty and the Storm next to the "N."

Thanks so much Michael!

Paul Wills
Wow that is very well done, Dusty!
50 years! Great tribute

Hey thanks Paul!

Edward Aycock
This is really well done!  I especially like the very JB-style Kitty Pryde.
This was the era I was reading and the memories... This is really well done!  I especially like the very JB-style Kitty Pryde.

I was definitely going for John’s take on Kitty, Wolverines mask, Colossus’ face…..heck, most of the X-Men are indelibly linked in most peoples memories to the way John drew them! And thanks for the kind words Ed!

Peter Martin
Wow, what a piece! That is a dizzying amount of characters.

I wish I could have put in SO MANY more….and all of the Imperial Guard!

James Woodcock
Dusty - how on earth do you design these mega compositions? I marvel @ how you get things to fit together & remain coherent.

In addition to all the great multi character pieces John’s done over the years I’m also a huge George Perez and Art Adams fan as well….. those three guys do the mega character pieces better than anyone…. So all I can say is I’m a student at the feet of masters, just trying my best!

Wallace Sellars
Nice job, DA.

Much appreciated WS.

Great catch Steven! I’m the biggest Golden fan you’ll ever meet, and those first 12 issues are among my favorite comics of all time and The Endeavor one of my favorite starship designs ever created…..I’m not a Bio Ship fan by any means and I just wanted to draw the ship I love in order to invoke the X-Men/Micronauts miniseries, so I made an executive call and substituted what I really wanted to draw with what actually showed up in the series itself! But I’m happy to hear my “No Prize” excuse can be backed up with that Nightcrawler reference!

Fun stuff! I also remember you're drawings of classic 1970s TV characters and such, Dusty. Neat!

Edit to share foe those who haven't seen it before:

Thanks for sharing another one of your stunning pieces of art, Dusty. Such a feast for the eyes! So much to take in.
Gotta say I love your version of Beast, both here and in the Avengers piece. I'd love to see your Beast animated one day.
Cheers!

Golden is one of those artists that I can just look and look at a image for a long time....and his Micronauts is my favorite of his work.
