I made a comment to a work colleague last year in relation to a discussion that we were having about the perception of comic book fans.

'We're all geeks about something'.

I had in mind the huge interest that a lot of guys in the UK have about football (soccer), and the obsession that a lot of women have for soap operas and reality shows like (ugh) Married at First Sight.

At a Con in Blackpool i was talking to a tram conductor and
he was amazed at all the people walking around in public in
Cosplay, i pointed out football fans walking round in
football strips despite being spectators not players, and
wearing team colour make-up on their faces, and he got my
point!
