Rest in peace. The name means a lot to me, but always knowing about “the
other John Byrne” has made me fond of him. Sad to know he’s passed.

When Marc Guggenheim killed me off on an episode of LAW&ORDER there immediately popped up on eBay someone attempting to sell a tattered issue of IRON FIST, asking more than it was worth because I was dead.

Truly cockle-warming. I wonder if this will trigger anything similar.

No, John Byrne died in 2008:

JB - How weird was the name coincidence when you were drawing Space:1999?

More than a few readers wondered if I was the Johnny Byrne of the TV show—tho none wondered why I wrote the show but drew the comic.

I knew you're not 83 and seeing the thread title still gave
me a start.

I have a Google alert for my incredibly common name (only
18,000 or so in the US alone) and almost every notification
is an obituary.

JB, not cool.... RIP to Mr. Byrne nonetheless. My heart stopped for a second!

The momentary shock was relieved after noticing you had posted in another channel at close to the same time :)

That said, it was a fair trade to gain in the knowledge that you had appeared 'in person' on Law & Order. What a cool perk to the job, or to your friendship!

Title gave me a brief shock until I saw who created the thread. I know this other JB's face -- but only thru the usual internet confusion with the comic giant JB.
