Through the decades there have been so many artists who consistently draw great covers, but growing up in the 70s none of them could draw me to a book like Neal Adams. I remember searching and searching for this one as a kid, after seeing it advertised in many DC comics of the time. One of the best of the bronze age IMO

I always enjoyed Ed Hannigan's covers. His designs were often just a little bit unusual. I'm aware he also constructed layouts for covers too - such as X-men #141.

Kane and Chan seemed to be doing most of Marvel and DC covers when I first started reading, but the Jim Aparo covers from that time always give me the warm and fuzzies.

Adam Hughes, Mike Zeck, Brian Bolland and John Byrne are some of my faves.
Wish the first three had the speed to do more actual comics over the years. Of course, JB was able to give us the whole deal on a consistent basis.

Dave Cockrum, John Romita and Gil Kane would be my favorites who regularly did covers for titles they weren't doing the interior art for.
Other than that, covers by George Perez, Neal Adams and JB would be my other favorites.

Wallace - Yes, Alan Davis too.
He's a lot like Jose Luis Garcia Lopez in that he always does quality work and is probably a little underappreciated for the level of excellence he maintains.

Curt did many Batman covers when I was a kid. His smooth realism was a sharp contrast to the “Bob Kane” model found on most of the interior pages.

For me, John Buscema's covers have always been the archetype of what a comic book cover should be. They convey something completely otherworldly and fantastical. His early Silver Surfer covers come to mind.
