Something I learned from this is that tumbleweed are dead. I’d somehow assumed they were migratory and rerooted themselves from time to time.

But they sure as heck are still here.  I’m in a very suburban part of the Bay Area and it’s pretty normal to see 6-10 foot wide tumbleweeds blowing across the roads on the outskirts of town.
