Two different situations.

The United States waged war and committed genocide against the indigenous nations in order to take their lands.  No group of people has been treated worse by the U.S. than native Americans, but it would be strange for a conqueror to give conquered territory back to the conquered.

Conversely, many of these African American families acquired land as citizens of the United States, and should have had their rights protected by our laws.

IMO, recognizing the harms done to one group does not diminish the harms done to the other.  Of the two, I think it is much more likely that black Americans whose land was wrongly taken from them will receive something close to fair compensation, but the most likely outcome is that neither will.

JB's thread title says it all. US, CA and Los Angeles all have long history of things of this nature. As people pay expensive rates for parking and tickets at Dodger stadium, this is forgotten.

Which is something I always found strange about the Civil War ..
