This morning I happened to pick this one off the spinner rack in my Studio. No particular reason. Just a few years since I looked at it.

This was a fun one to work on. When I saw JURASSIC PARK III, with that last shot of the flying reptiles coasting over the Pacific, I knew there was a potential for an old-style Universal “monsters in the desert” story. Didn’t expect I’d be the one to do it, tho!

I borrowed the spine of the first issue from THEM! (which was not Universal) and built from there. A lot of 3D modeling for vehicles. For the pteranodons I picked up a JP “action figure.”

At one point one of the characters tells how her husband was killed by a massive IED in Iraq. This was based on a true story, something that happened to the friend of a friend.

Google came in very handy for Polar Bear reference at the end.

All in all, a fun job, like I said, and for a licensed project, remarkably stress free.

I loved that series. The polar bear scene is particularly
memorable.

Really enjoyed this series; would have liked more!
JB + dinosaurs works for me (loved those X-Men Savage Land issues too)!

Whenever I did an X-Men Savage Land story (after the first one) it would unleash a torrent of critics complaining that “all he ever does is the Savage Land!”

I loved this series. I need to excavate it from my long boxes for my son to read. And for me to read again!

Speaking of complaints, I caught a lot of flak for giving the pteranodons teeth—which they had in the movie!!

I enjoyed JP:TDITD, too. The widescreen approach worked well.

Dug this out and reread it this evening - a fun story! And I'd forgotten about the JBF mod cameos (RIP Reed).

Some people will complain about anything!

Personally, I enjoyed everything Savage Land related (love those gnarled tree branches, JB!)

Surely the MCU will turn their attention to the SL at some point - although I guess they have put a lot of focus on Wakanda lately.

It's a great story. I'd like to see more creators brought in to explore the possibilities on a Jurassic World this way--it seems like there's no real limit to what might be done with the basic premise.

Thanks for sharing this, JB!
