Million dollar idea - bring back "the stamp".

•••

The stamp is strictly for reprints.

Took a moment to check eBay. Ye Gods! The Midtown Comics edition listed for $1300??

Sad, sad, sad.

IMHO, if I were in your shoes, I would be deeply honored that my work is so highly prized.

Just my $0.02 worth.

This isn’t about honoring a creator. This is about greed, and preying on people who are foolish enough to spend the money.

In microcosm, this represents what has gone wrong with comics, mutating from YA entertainment product to an industry driven by speculators.

John:

I can see your point about greed and speculation.  CGC graded comics are like the stock market too...they come out with a 9.9 or a 10 grade and ebay explodes.  Six months later, they're worth half, or less. But as with anything speculative...you pays your $$$ and you takes your chances.

With that said...I would still pay a couple hundred for a limited edition John Bryne comic.  Not for speculation, but to just have it for my collection (along with Doom Patrol, Space 1999, Rog-2000, Iron Fist, X-Men, FF, She Hulk, etc.).

Hmmm....idea...gears turning...what do you charge for a commission??  It would immediately be put under glass and go on my office wall.  Directly across from my Navy wall (ships I served on, Academy Diploma, etc.).

Hell...TBO, I'm humbled and honored that you even respond to my posts.

I've been posting everywhere except here....WTF is wrong with me ?🤦🏾‍♂️

Moving on......

I received my copy on June 23rd from Amazon. I haven't read the entire book due to I want to take my time to read it over the summer.

JB & Paul - You have taken me back to my time growing up in Baltimore. Reading comics during the summers of 1977-1980 while eating penny cookies and drinking a COLD Coca Cola.

Once I was done reading, I would hand the books to my little brother who would do his best to draw those X-Men characters.

I lost him to cancer a little over 8 years ago. He would had love this book and the Fan-Fic........

I miss him.......  Fuck cancer.........
