I'm a big fan of Thwip and onomatopoeia in comics in general.
There's so much tragedy and power in something so simple as SWIK! SNAP!
I really enjoyed Frank Miller's use of onomatopoeia in The Dark Knight Returns. It was almost like an artform, with so much life to it (kudos also to John Constanza).
The contrast of the whupwhupwhup and the pokita pokita in the page below actually has a narrative element to it.
Couldn't find it online, but there's also the bit where the Batmobile attacks the mutants and there's a contrast between the cannons of the Batmobile and the Mutants' guns. The Mutants fire in one panel (BRAKKA BRAKKA BRAKK BLAM BLAM BLAM) and then the next panel the bullets ricochet off the Batmobile's armour plating (PWING PWING PWING) and the cannons fire back (POOM POOM). It tickled me when I first read it.
