The big difference is that Trump was out of office and had no right to possess the documents at all.

As had been Biden after he left office as VP. Or are you asserting that Biden did have a right to possess those documents?

These documents date back to his vice presidency. 6 years ago.

So regardless that he ended up being elected back into office, you have a person who held classified documents (whether it was one document, two, fifteen, ten thousand, whatever) in a non-secured location.

Fatuous comparison. Like comparing a house fire to the Great Fire of London.

I’m extremely disappointed with Biden overall, but it will take a lot worse than this to legitimize a comparison to Trumf.

Now.... AG Garland has selected a Special Counsel* to investigate the classified documents found with the President.

When you have nothing to hide, you cooperate accordingly.

The new special counsel will find no wrongdoing... and should prevent the GOP from launching investigations for the same thing in the future.

(*Garland moves in on Biden in two days, but takes a year and a half for Trumf.... what a train wreck.)

Until investigators take a deeper dive into what the documents were, how many, etc, the biggest and most obvious difference is their respective reactions and cooperation with the folks at National Archives. But that doesn't change the original offense.
It's not like none of these people had any type of annual security training on the retention of classified materials in these positions. I don't buy the 'oopsie, I forgot' excuse from any of them.

Did you type that with a straight face?

"The new special counsel will find no wrongdoing..."

The fact that he had the documents at all means there WAS wrongdoing.  But the investigator will likely find it was unintentional.

The problem is not that Biden is being treated differently from Trump, because the circumstances are different.

The problem is that Biden, Clinton, Trump, etc., are all being treated more favorably than an ordinary person would, after violating the protocol for handling classified information.

The other problem is that all of these people have treated classified information carelessly, and potentially compromised sensitive information.

When we hear Nancy Pelosi and others proclaiming "no one is above the law" they are full of shit.

Not really.  Intent and how you handle such discoveries matters a lot.  You're allowed to make mistakes.  It's willful mishandling and cover ups that get you in real trouble.

While intent & how you handle such discoveries does count, I was one of
the ones who spoke about how important it was that Trump possessed the
documents. & that nearly possessing the docs was enough.

So I have to use that same standard with Biden, & say that yes, he broke the
law here & he has documents that are classified @ the same level as the
ones Trump had.

Why can’t politicians just, you know, obey the laws they write? This really
does go to why I expect them to be better than they are.

If you write laws that govern how people should act, I expect you to act in a
manner that the laws you write require me to act.

It really isn’t too much to ask.

One can logically assume Joe's documents were packed away by his staff and forgotten about. The amount of documents and the way they came forward with the documents is a stark contrast with whatever Trump was up to with his 20+ boxes of documents that the Archives requested and he refused to hand over.

If you're someone that thinks both incidents are the same, that's your right but then you can go to inciting an insurrection, fake electors, tax evasion, illegal fundraising, sexual assault accusations, etc. It's really no content.

Unfortunate for Joe for sure, but not apples to apples.

Nah, I probably didn't... LOL... wishful thinking on my part. The GOP ultimately plans to impeach Biden by ANY means necessary.
