The body hopping Phoenix is really fun (and scary). I love the "unconventional" body types being squeezed into the Phoenix costume.

Interesting... Phoenix barely lasted a few seconds in Elaine's body before things start going south.

There seems to be a fair bit of "lore" (much of which may have arisen after JB's involvement) that established Jean as the "ideal" host for the Phoenix. And Jean is 50% Elaine from a DNA point of view...

We've seen the Phoenix occupy the 'faux-Jean' body in the original run for a long period of time, and more recently Lilandra, a squirrel, a fox, a bear, and police guy - all for more than a few seconds, and while the status of the quadrupeds is unclear, the police guy doesn't SEEM to have come out too badly.

Itching to see what happens next, and I'm dreading (in a good way) tomorrow's page starting with "Elsewhere, not quite meanwhile..."

It's times like this when I wish I had the patience to wait until the issue is complete before reading. Waiting 24hrs to "turn the page" can be so frustrating! Not to mention the weekend....!!

This is a fascinating story right now, so much so I don't mind the break from Logan's origin (which I'm also loving).  Dang.  All for the low, low price of an internet connection.

The Phoenix is really coming across as a child here, with no more self control than a 5 year old would have.  I want ice cream, I don't care that we are going to the hospital because dad broke his arm, I want it now!

The power thing is always a fun mental exercise.  I loved in Star Brand when the hero went to a comic-con and JB and Roger Stern (iirc) told him why a secret identity wouldn't work in real life - how easily you could guess who he really is via simple clues (height, facial structure, gender, race - all obvious with a glance, plus where he operates out of), then use any number of databases to cut down to a handful of people who he might be and kill them all if you are an evil villain (or just an average drug lord).  The drawbacks of powers nicely covered in Next Men (Invulnerable?  Hope you don't want to feel anything and like having long hair and nails)

Yeah, comic book super-powers/heroes make zero sense in any real world attempt pretty much.  Still fun though.

The “trick” is to embrace the absurdity. Lean into it. And NOT with a wink to the ennui-engorged elements of the audience.

Mosquitoes!

Heather and Mac look subtly and appropriately younger.

I think I'm a tiny bit lost and expect that one or more of you can fill me in- Why does Jean say that she was never the Phoenix? I missed something somewhere or it's dropped out of my brain.
