There's a two-page spread of an embattled Doomstadt in an issue of FF (whose number escapes me) that is simply phenomenal. |

I think first of the covers to X-Men 114, 135 & 136, Captain America 253 & 254, Alpha Flight 3, the Wolverine in the sewers final page of X-Men 132, the Magneto final page reveal of 111, the Captain America running on the Brooklyn Bridge page of 247 (hoping I have those numbers right without checking). I'd like Doomsday +1 3 & 4 covers in the early work 'room', maybe Space:1999 5 cover as well, and the full Rog 2000 comic from E-Man 6.
I'm sure I could think of lots more, definitely some Avengers needed, maybe the big meeting scene inside 181!

So very much, impossible for me to state.
I love so much of the Art of JB book I salivated over endlessly back in the day. So many covers, X-Men 141, FF 249 cover, FF Omnibus volume 1 cover, Peter Parker 101 cover, Amazing Spider-Man 189 cover, Cap 254 cover, Action 584 cover...
As you can see, I can't narrow it down. And I didn't even get into interior pages! JB, you're just too good!

I'd have to include examples of his use of current fashion (Lois Lane in Man of Steel and several She-Hulk pages spring to mind) and pages that displayed his "set building". Specifically: Doom's castle, Dr. Strange's home in Namor, Gotham Skylines (Batman 3D) and Hilltop's home in Next Men.
I'd also have to highlight some of the groundbreaking material he produced like Jen's walk thru the double page ad in She-Hulk or the format choices like the issue of The Incredible Hulk where one storyline would get the bottom 1/2 of one page and the top 1/2 of the next page only to flip to the other storyline on the bottom of that page.
Quite a few pages from Doomsday.1 would make it in as well.

The mentions so far have been incredible... and I'd love to see a very large version of this cover presented prominently....

I love that Chronicles cover! I think the only one of those I ever bought was the X-Men one and it seemed fairly lightweight once I had The X-Men Companion I & II Fantagraphics put together (and now Twomorrow's similar Companion books).
I also remember that Iron Man issue (118) with the past armors on the wall behind Tony Stark as another exhibit worthy interior image! It might also have some pages of George Tuska (Champions 17) and Steve Ditko (Charlton Bullseye 2) to show inking?

Altho I was art robot on that IRON MAN job, I truly disliked that splash with the multiple armor designs. It ran so much against everything we knew about Iron Man, who’d shown his standard suit was capable of all those functions, all by itself. It was an example of “de-teching”, playing down the super-science attributes of the character. My comment at the time was “Which one is the suit Robin wears when Batman is incapacitated?”

I suppose they didn't make a lot of sense in a workshop area. It could've made as much sense for him to have had a few photos of his old suits on a wall, and maybe one early one in a display case someplace. As a young reader I found interest in the changing evolution of their look. Iron Man is one of those characters who has a good reason for looking different over the years.

OK, set myself some arbitrary rules of my own. 24 pieces, representing a wide span, including some of the more iconic images and with a leaning to characters with which JB has a strong connection. Obviously an actual exhibit would be more about what pieces you could actually get together in one place -- ideally you'd want it to be originals on display, not reproductions (good luck with that!)
1.
2.
1 and 2 would be together under the heading 'evolution of the artist'
3.
4.
5.
6.
