That is an insane amount of detailed debris and tree leaves to draw. What a work ethic!

Seriously though... If this comic were ever to be published in the traditional sense, a later writer would surely do a story explaining who that mystery figure is, why s/he chose not to intervene at that time, and the far-reaching consequences that inaction had on the entire Marvel Universe in the form of a yearslong company-wide cross-over event.

We have many panels ahead of us set on, under and around the shattered remains of the mansion, so I suppose I should state that there is NOTHING hidden in all that broken stuff. No lurking figures, no jokes and no Barney! Nada.

I like the bits floating above our heroes (subtly whitened?), so that we have multiple layers of depth. This would be a page that would look really cool with the process used in Batman 3-D.

I finally had the chance to get caught up on a few pages and the comments this morning after being away for a few days. All of it was great material. The part I keep going back to is the close up of Lilandra in the last panel of page four. She looks to have come out of the pencil of Dave Cockrum himself and inked by JB. Magnificent panel!
I followed that up by giving the Phoenix issue of Hidden Years another look for the first time in years. I had forgotten that the Fantastic Four looked very Kirbeyesque in their guest appearance and that the Phoenix Effect had a much tighter energy pattern consistent with or similar to what Lilandra shows these days. This is masterful work, JB!

Thanks again for posting these daily comics. These are always the highlight of my day and it's a treat to be reading new adventures of this classic team.
Frankly I don't think I'd ever want to see these pages inked or colored. This is just pure undiluted Byrne goodness.
