I still see a lot of JB in that cover -- Ordway mostly adds & tweaks facial structure imho. That said, I would have preferred inks that more closely resembled the pencils.

When I think of "going overboard with the inking", this comes to mind...

...TOO MUCH!

Important to note Tom was instructed to make all those changes.

The yellow highlights added additional static to help drown out JB's style. The
original art seems more recognizable -- though still mostly Ordway.

edit: the little note at the bottom reads: "Colorist --> See Jonathan before
coloring! I have a color guide to show you!"

This note is written in the ink used to draw the flag and the "shine" on
Radioactive Man. I wonder if a "color hold" was hoped for?

Wow! I don't think I ever knew JB penciled that.

I would say the face of Superman in the main figure is not very Byrne-like even in the original pencils, but yeah, Ordway really did suck nearly all the other Byrne-aspects out of it.

Yikes! I'd love to see JB or someone else take a crack at those pencils.

I like the Superman cover but I was shocked the first time Nathan posted that Silver Surfer cover because I never had any idea JB penciled that cover.
