Hey JB, I'm trying to custom build Sasquatch in Lego. Most larger-than-human figures have Hulk-like proportions:
That doesn't look like Sasquatch to me at all, even with a lot of cutting and shaping.
However, there's a Lego Groot figure that looks like a better match:
My question is, is Groot too narrow across the shoulders? I'm wondering if I need to extend the shoulders out a bit to make the proportions right.
Your opinion would be much appreciated.
thanks! Drew

:-D Thanks! I figure (no pun intended) I'm on pretty solid ground if the Groot figure looks more or less proportional.
As far as matching up with other Lego minifigures, "human size" is about 1.25" and Groot stands about 3.75" tall, so he's a good bit taller than Sasquatch should be (I figure Walt should be maybe 2.25 or so to be on the money). But I gotta work with what's available.
Thanks again! Hopefully this will turn out well enough to show the end product here on the Forum.

Sasquatch is all torso, with shorter legs. The top figure feels like a better match.

Unless you maybe cut the legs down on Groot?

Hmm... several images I've seen of Sasquatch give him a bit narrower waist than the image above (and I know that that's JB's work). Walt doesn't have that squat, thick "Hulk" shape, especially with slimmer hips, and he's a bit taller than most of the other monster characters as well. (Don't let all that fur between the legs fool you, his legs aren't *super* short.)
What I might do is widen the shoulders a bit and cover the figure with a built-up torso and shoulders--gonna have to do a bit of that anyway, given how his neck and the muscles around it are really heavy.
I've seen one or two others build Sasquatch from Thing-like "big figs" but the outcome doesn't quite work for me. If the end result with Groot doesn't do it for me, though, I do have a Ben Grimm (like the one above) I can play with.
Thanks, Mark!

BTW, how does this work for a Lego-style face for the figure?
The brows are going to be Sculpy, not decal.

Not bad, Drew. If you sculpty his mane and brow, I think it will look pretty good. I'd probably try a bit darker red for the eyes.
BTW, let me preface this by saying, I love Mike Mignola's artwork. But, do yourself a favor and don't use images of his run on Alpha Flight as reference. It's well drawn, but doesn't look like the same character that JB created.

Did Mignola ever draw Sasquatch during his AF run? I'm working from memory but given that his stint was so brief and between Walt's death and well before his resurrection, I cant recall him doing so.
