Sweet 40!

JB's FF is the best!

Congrats to the commissioner.

Happy B-day as well!

So much fun. Good to see the old flying bathtub, and Sue's legs are like an awesome special effect -- like thin air grown thick, especially the boots over the buildings.

Great commission!

When I see that someone is 40, I *still* seem to think
"born in 1964" -- even though I just turned 40 myself and
know all to well that right now it means "born in 1974"!

But if so, how can the '60s (and the Marvel Universe) be
only 20 years old?

When I hit 60, I started playing a little mental game. What if I was to lie about my age, and tell people I was 40? This is not something I'd ever actually do, but what kinds of things would I have to keep track of, if I did?

The big shocker was realizing it would mean I had been born in 1970, and just how many of the important things in my life would be erased by this. No transAtlantic crossings by liner, for instance. Fine for the Fifties, but by the Seventies people flew. Plus, no longer a witness to the birth of the Silver Age, or the Marvel Age. And missed the original STAR TREK altogether!

Not worth it!

Taking my inspiration in no small part from Kirby. . .

I wonder how many "requests" they REALLY got! Ah, simpler times!

Sue is the very definition of pneumatic here, isn't she?

Excellent work JB!
I have to agree with Wallace. Reed's torso stretch looks really cool.
Great job pulling it off.

Getting a John Byrne commission has got to be the coolest gift ever.
Congrats to the Birthday Boy/ Girl.

JB's Fantastic Four is second only to Kirby's take, and I am always glad to see them drawn by him again. It also makes me sad to think I will most likely never see a movie of TV version anywhere close to the team represented in this commission. THAT is the Fantastic Four! Accept no substitutes!
