Jean:

Enjoy reading the Don Winslow novels while you can. Last year he published his final book in the Danny Ryan trilogy and said he was retiring after thirty years of writing crime/thriller fiction. Supposedly he has a few of his books optioned for movies and TV shows so we will see if he dips his toe into another entertainment medium.

I think I have read all but one of Winslow's books. Once you are done reading the Art Keller trilogy feel free to dive into his other series and stand alone novels. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks James - yes I had heard about his retirement from writing. It is a shame as I love what I have read so far.

The only good news is that I have quite a backlog to dig into! Hopefully he takes a break from activism and returns to writing novels (or like you said some TV or movies as most of his work has been optioned).

Not common for me, but reading a couple at once;

THE ENCHANTED SEASON by Lance Parrish/Tom Gage
Lance's biography along with Tigers '84 Series winning season.

PERMANENT RECORD by Edward Snowden
Only knew the basics of his whistleblower story. A work "Book Club" choice.

« Death and Croissants » by Ian Moore.

An English man runs a BnB in rural France. One day, one of his regulars
disappears and one of his hens is killed.

The Dead Zone has to be one of his finest books. The story goes that the manuscript for Carrie was so short that King had to flesh it out a bit to reach novel length, which is why you get the epistolary style bits and pieces.

Now starting DARK VOYAGE by Alan Furst, the sixth novel in his WWII "Night Soldiers" historical thriller series published back in 2004. His books are set between Hitler coming to power and the end of the war as the Iron Curtain began to form.

It took me a while to get into his books as they are stand-alone thrillers that don't feature a regular main character. But Furst does a great job of researching his locations and the politics of the time period, which does a lot to help keep my attention.
