William, I don't think you have to be a purist not to "get" that one!  Ha!

That "tech" Galactus is too busy and awkward for me taste.

This is the cover image to The Jack Kirby Collector issue 26 featuring a re-colored image of Galactus from the splash page of an old issue of Thor.  Lots of interesting writings about The Big G in this magazine!

William,

If its ever been asked, I don't remember it; and, if it was, it was probably a very long time ago:  could you tell us why Galactus is your most favoritest character?

Thanks!
Marc

Sometimes I pretend I am Galactus. It's just a matter of scale. My sofa is gargantuan and biscuits are planets.

Actually does Galactus sleep? Does he have a bed?

Marc,

I have two answers for that.

First, the visual appeal of Galactus. I can't think of any other character design that is, at the same time both simple and complex.

Second, this: "Galactus is not Evil! He is above Good or Evil! He does what he must...For He Is GALACTUS!"

Try to imagine as a kid, wrapping your mind around that! When i did, thats when I knew this was MY character.

Sadly, outside of Lee,Kirby and Byrne, very few writers nor artist get it.IMHO.

Also IMHO, and tempting an argument with our host, I think He has done the best work with Galactus.

William,

I share your view of JB's Galactus stories.  Those are the ones that most "capture" my imagination.
