Is it just me, or is this somehow -- just very, very wrong? From this week's Midtown Comics online solicitation. I know DC is in it for the money, like any other company, but, is nothing sacred?

Michael, unfortunately the Superman emblem is one a the most abused graphic images I ever seen. But it's not just you.

Well it's certainly an apt logo for what the characters done for the company.

That's a parody, Juan Jose, so it's allowable, but in absence of any humorous element, it's blasphemy, and, clearly, stoning is called for - and no pebbles.

What's the context of its use at the site? The link just takes me to random comics for sale and that logo nowhere in sight.

Sorry, Joe, I didn't even realize that what I'd posted was a link! The symbol is just randomly inserted on their homepage (do they still call it that?), but, son-of-a-gun, it is a link.

I'm curious to know if JB has an opinion, given his history with the character (nothing to do with his "What The--?!" cover - as I said above, it's a perfectly legitimate parody; plus, I'm almost sure Wally Wood did it first...just don't have Superduperman handy at the moment).

This seems like much ado about little to me.

Michael, Wally Wood did do something similar in the Fifties, but it was Captain Marbles who sported the dollar sign. Superduperman mostly had a "post no bills" emblem (among other things, since it changed from panel to panel).

Well, I thought I remembered something like that was also done for The Beverly Hillbillies TV Show character Mr. Drysdale and his favorite comicbook super-hero "Money Man" / "Super-Banker", but apparently my memories were not quite accurate:
