April 15, 2004. That's when this site was first a'borned. Shifted over from Net54, which, itself, had been shifted over from the old Magnus board. There have been a lot of people instrumental with making this a great place to hang your proverbial hat. I'll name three:
JB - 'natch. It's his board and the reason we're all here. I don't know of any other creator currently producing as much work as he does who is so generous of his time, personally replying to the posts of fans far and wide. I know what a thrill it was to post my first message to my first Byrne board (the Magnus board six years ago) and get a reply back from the man himself, and I know by the responses of many first-time posters now that the thrill is still there. Thanks for all of your work, both past and present, JB, and for making yourself so available to your fans all over the world.
Jeff Fettes - Without Jeff, this board wouldn't even be here. Two years ago, out of the kindness of his heart and his love of all-things Byrne, he volunteered web space from his personal company to host this board...free of charge. Think about that every time you hit "enter" in reply to a post here, or upload an image to the JBF. Jeff and his team at 24/7 keep everything running smoothly, allowing us a small corner of the web that we can call our own. Thanks, Jeff, for everything you do behind-the-scenes that doesn't often get the recognition it deserves.
Dave Pruitt - When the Magnus board went to hell in a hand basket because of an inundation of trolls, Dave set up a board at Net54. We thought we had lost JB forever, but within a few days, he was posting again on a board that was radically different than the one he was used to. Dave has been a Byrne fan for longer than a lot of people posting here have been alive (I can rival that, however, so I get to say it!). At one point, he had the most complete collection of JB's work ever assembled and his devotion to being a fan, as well as to various incarnations of Byrne boards, can't be overstated. Thanks for not letting "a flame about this high" die, Dave. You're a man among men!
So happy anniversary to the JBF! May the flame continue burning long into the future!
Grab a plate, a fork and a napkin:
There's beer in the bucket (don't worry...we have lots of buckets!):
But stay away from the Dr. Pepper. It's all for John!
