If it was a Democrat there would be no 2+ year case. If
it even started. You can already find what Republicans
find suspicious with Democrats and nothing is ever done
about it.

Are you too young to remember President Clinton?  The Starr investigation was 4 years long. They impeached the president for obstructing an investigation into something that wasn't in any way illegal.

“if this body [Congress] determines that your conduct as a public official is clearly out of bounds in your role . . . because impeachment is not about punishment. Impeachment is about cleansing the office. Impeachment is about restoring honor and integrity to the office.”--Lindsay Graham

Looks like the idea of Biden for President is finished.  He can't make it through the Democratic Primary with this baggage.

My favorite bit from this week has been the Right's Orwellian and utterly effortless transformation of the words "does not exonerate" into "total exoneration." (Unless they're talking about Jussie Smullett.)

yes, but I think things have changed a lot since then.
I think today would be different, even in 2016 it was
clear that a lot of suspicious stuff was being
downplayed as no big deal.

I think a lot of it has to do with the peoples opinion
and the media coverage, the latter having more power.
When a subject comes up the media will quickly move to
cover it favorably or not favorably, and unfortunately
FOX is vastly outnumbered by shows and channels that
prop up the DNC. They try to persuade the public
opinion to get the majority on their side. So if an
event is extremely unpopular, there will be a
case/investigation. If they can quickly make it look
like nothing, then it is more likely there will not be
a long investigation.

You're fucking joking, right?  This is a joke.  You're having fun at our expense, correct?  The most watched "news" organization in America, "Faux" News, is the victim.  Seriously?  Poor old "Faux" is being bullied by MSNBC?  Deer-in-the-headlights "Faux" is just trying to keep its head above the water amidst the vast deep-state conspiracy of corporate DNC-backed news orgs.  That's what you believe?  Wow.

You are correct that FOX is on top of the main
networks, I'm not sure how often combined.

But I am talking about the number of shows on TV that
add on top of that.

- All late night shows
- The View
- Ellen
- SNL
- Bill Maher (how many times has someone tried to get
a conservative show on HBO and got rejected?)
- The Daily Show
-Several major news papers
- And more

But it's not a great study, just the impression I get.
Conservatives have some good YouTube presence with a
lot of commentators, and have a great radio presence
wile in the car.

So really it would be nice to have a study on who
outnumbers who on getting the word out.

I find it incredible that the people in power are the ones who keep claiming the victim status.

THEY ARE IN POWER.

Stop claiming victim status and do things that show me, actually show me, that you are not in victim mentality. Give me facts - not alternative facts - which, to be clear - are called LIES where I come from - but facts that are measurable, provable, undoctored, that back up what you are saying.

Because crap like the 'biggest audience' and 'bowl of skittles' to name but two of the poster child examples for alternative fact LIES are easily proved to be lies.
And doubling down on those, makes everything else suspect.

So stop giving me 'Clinton would have done this, Obama would have done that'. That's using What If to justify What Is.

Justify What Is by reference to What Is and then you will be worth debating with.

Apologies if I sound angry a lot at the moment.

This fiasco that continues to ever move nowhere in the UK is really getting me down. And crap like Trump adds fuel to that flame.

The march to every smaller tribe mentality across the world, where each tribe shouts that they should be respected, while at the same time dismissing anyone that is not them is just so depressing. We have forgotten history.

No, we haven't forgotten it, we are actively lying to people and claiming that what did happen did not - and using that to drive hate, segregation and self power at the expense of others.

The product of 'everyone's opinion carries equal weight with nothing being right or wrong'. A laudable aim, but only if you allow people to lie and then claim victim status once those lies are called out.

So, Mueller team members say final report is more damaging to Trump than Barr summary suggested.... LINK

Also, House Democrats followed through with their promise and requested that the I.R.S. hand over SIX years of Trump’s personal and business tax returns. Great development.. but I'm still waiting for the SDNY to complete its criminal investigations, and I am waiting for the information from Deutsche Bank and the connections to the Russians who have been paying Trump. Now THAT is of real interest to me.
