I'll reserve judgement on this speech until I see the actions backing it up. His deeds need to support his words. Although, I have no idea how the government ceases working when there is an investigation. Those two things seem unrelated. His 2018 SotU went nowhere and my guess is the 2019 version will perform just as well. Last year protection was in the form of rebuilding the nuclear arsenal and now safety will be found building a wall. Healthcare reform was supposed to come from repealing the Affordable Care Act and replacing it with something better and less expensive. The list of things said is much longer than the list of things delivered so I will hold my praise or ridicule until he actual does something positive.

I'm reading words that appear to provide evidence that they were formed by a sentient being capable of rational thought... and yet the words themselves are arranged in such a way as to blatantly defy my hypothesis.
Stay strong America. Keep reminding yourselves that in the 20th century, your country's leadership in technology and science once put a man on the Moon, for all mankind.
Try not to think about the news that in the 21st century, President Trump has cancelled all future missions to the Moon and Mars, and blown decades' worth of NASA's budget, in order to prepare a new mission aimed at finding and destroying the Planet of the Apes before they become a threat to us.

Whoa, hold on there. It's all well and good to leave, but aren't you forgetting that America can't leave until the original goals of the mission are accomplished? How many times does Trump need to remind us?

The biggest con he could be playing on the right is his
religious talk. I am kinda guarded on how sincere he is
about that.

Regarding his religious sincerity, you might want to lean on my "deeds over words" suggestion. Then you don't have to scramble your brain trying to figure out if he is conning you that he is religious or not. Just have a look at how he refers to or quotes scripture and his church attendance. Sorry to hear you are conflicted, but how forgiving would you be if you found out he was only posing as a devout christian and had zero conviction? Is that a deal breaker or would the "forgiveness" aspect of Christianity be trotted out?

From the beginning I did not see him as Christian at
all, I felt he had the view that Christianity is a good
thing and good for this country, but he would not be
bound by it. So he is an ally, but not all that good of
an example.
But, throughout the Bible God used terrible men for his
goals. Even King David in my view was an asshole. He
stole a man's wife and had him killed. He repented for
this later, but I felt, "too late now, asshole"

Since the government governs everyone, not just those of one religion, wouldn't it be a good idea to keep religion separate from politics? Wouldn't it also be a good idea to have the facts in the speech fact-checked by a number of third parties before the speech is delivered and so you don't get swathes of lawmakers standing up to applaud false declarations?
I found it hard to watch at times. We're the best! [standing ovation] We spend the most on the military! [standing ovation] We'll always defend freedom, but you'll never be allowed socialism! [standing ovation]
It was especially cringe-worthy when he came up with a dandy little rhyme about why no-one should investigate him.

The little rhyme was very "Nixonian", Peter. Regrading fact checking, I wish the speech was on a 5 minute delay with fact checking in the lower third as the speech is broadcast. Wouldn't it be nice to get this kind of information during the broadcast: NY Time Fact Check.

Because:
(a) God is impotent;
(b) God has a sick sense of humour;
(c) God can't find decent people to achieve his goals (it's too difficult for a divine being); or
(d) The entire Bible is a fabrication and we should focus on reality instead of absurd self-serving fairytales.
If there is a God, I think it's time for another flood, because the human race is clearly a lost cause based on current trends.

That is a big leap. A functioning society tells us murder is wrong, not a god. Nothing gets done with a collective group of people if murder "isn't wrong". The consequences and outcome of murder clearly indicate that it just isn't a sustainable activity. Evntually, everyonme is gone.
